Colorstrology
Colorstrology alternative: a birthday colour you can actually use
Colorstrology is the book that made the birthday colour a mainstream idea, pairing days of the year with colours and a personality reading. This page sets out how the original system and this free site differ.
Written from each product's own public pages. Their page, for reference: www.michelebernhardt.com/
What each one gives you
| What you get | This site | Colorstrology |
|---|---|---|
| Where the colour comes from | One palette of 366 colours, authored here and written around the seasons | Michele Bernhardt's own system, developed with Pantone from astrology and numerology |
| How you look a date up | A free page for every month and day, in seven languages | The printed book; the month colours also circulate in magazine articles |
| What comes with the colour | Hex, RGB and HSL values, plus tints, shades and the complementary, analogous and triadic partners | A Pantone reference and a written personality reading |
| Day or month | One colour for each of the 366 days, and a colour for the month | A colour for each day, with a month colour as well |
| Cost | Free; the optional colour report is a one-time purchase | A purchased book, with printed swatches |
Where Colorstrology is the better choice
If you want the original - the system people mean when they say colourstrology - Bernhardt's book is the better choice. It has the authority of the person who coined the idea, a Pantone collaboration behind it, printed swatches and twenty years of press. This site is free, in seven languages, and has none of that history.
Questions people ask about Colorstrology
Is my birthday colour here the same as Colorstrology's?
No. Both give a colour to a day of the year, but the palettes are different and each was authored separately, so the same date is not the same colour in both. The one here is written by season and every entry carries a hex code plus a full palette.
Do I need the Colorstrology book to get my birthday colour?
Not here. Colorstrology is a book by Michele Bernhardt; this site is free and online. Enter a month and a day and the page opens with the colour, its hex value, its palette and its reading.
What is colourstrology?
It is the system Michele Bernhardt created with Pantone and set out in her book, pairing a colour with each day and each month and reading personality from it. This site writes about colour for use rather than about astrology.
Which colour chart is the real one?
Neither is official. A colour for a date is a modern idea and every system authors its own. What is worth checking is that the colour for a date stays the same wherever you look it up, which it does here.
